The History of the Studio Site

Sited on the property of a 35- acre abandoned fruit cannery, The Hunt Cannery, established in 1896 and later operated as the Libby cannery in 1932 was once one of the largest peach and pumpkin canning operations in the world. It ceased operations in 2001.

The studio was built on a small portion of this enormous operation left behind. Sutherland's exquisite glass fruit is inspired by this rich history. His beautiful glass pumpkins and peaches in particular, honor the heritage of the cannery while keeping its legacy alive.
